Christs Humanity

Jimmy and I have been painting our living room this week and doing some very late spring cleaning. However Ive returned to reading (in a very nicly painted room!)Jesus both man and God buy Steve Olyott,in preparation for next semmester.Jimmy informed me its all about the pre-season training!Only he could try to inspire me to read more using a football analogy.
The book has given me alot to think about over the last few days about Jesus as man both in body and nature and what this has meant for me and the world

Anyway I think this hymn from the fifteenth century says it better than I can (the football analogy here is "bring on the sub")

O Love ,how deep,how broad,how high!
it fills the heart with ecstasy,
That God ,the Son of God ,should take
Our mortal form ,for mortals sake.

He sent no angel to our race,
Of higher or lower place,
But wore the robe of human frame
Himself, and to this lost world came.

For us He was baptised and bore,
His Holy fast and hungered sore
For us temptation sharp he knew,
For us the tempter overthrew.

For us he prayed, for us he taught,
For us His daily works He wroght,
By words and signs and actions thus,
Still seeking ,not Him ,but us.

For us to wicked men betrayed,
Scourged,mocked,in purple robe arrayed,
He bore the shameful cross abd death,
For us at lenght gave up His breath.

For us He rose from death again,
For us He went on high to reign,
For us He sent His spirit here.
To guide ,to strenghen and to cheer.

To Him whose boundless love has won
Salvation for us through His son,
To God the Father ,Glory be,
Both now and through eternity.

Amen
